As a Nigerian wedding planner based in New Jersey, I’ve had the joy of traveling across the United States to help couples bring their dream days to life. This wedding was extra special, not only because of the love between Sarah and Segun, but also because it perfectly blended cultures and traditions in a way that celebrated their unique story.
Sarah (Congolese) and Segun (Nigerian) live in Seattle, Washington, but decided to host a beautiful destination wedding in Homestead, Florida. From the moment we began planning, it was clear they wanted the day to feel meaningful, faith-filled, and full of joy.

A Morning of Prayer and Hope
The day began with heartfelt prayers, mainly that it wouldn’t rain! While we had a solid Plan B for the ceremony, we were all holding on to hope for clear skies. Sarah and Segun shared an emotional first look just as a drizzle began to fall, and then, in a beautiful twist of fate, the rain stopped right before the ceremony began.
The Ceremony and Reception
The ceremony was heartfelt from start to finish. Sarah and Segun exchanged personal vows that beautifully reflected their love story and values. They then lit a unity candle, a symbolic moment representing their new life together.
The celebration flowed seamlessly into a joyful reception filled with laughter, dancing, and unforgettable moments. From their grand entrance to their first dance and the cutting of the cake, every detail felt intentional and filled with love.

Honoring Yoruba Traditions
After the reception, the couple changed into their elegant Nigerian attire to begin the Yoruba portion of their wedding day. Both families came together for this meaningful celebration of culture and heritage, creating a rich and vibrant atmosphere.
Sarah looked stunning in her Nigerian outfit and perfectly tied head wrap, radiating joy with every step. One of my favorite things about their wedding was their ability to stay present in the moment, even when certain details from the venue didn’t go as planned. Instead of letting challenges take away from the experience, they embraced the day with open hearts and pure happiness.

Working with Kae was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. From the start, she demonstrated professionalism, expertise, and genuine care that immediately set her apart. Planning both the wedding and the Nigerian traditional ceremonies felt overwhelming at first, especially since it was a destination wedding, but her calm demeanor, organization, and clear communication put us at ease. She took the time to understand our vision, preferences, and budget, and worked tirelessly to bring it all to life.
Kae’s attention to detail is impeccable. She matched us with the right vendors and managed everything with precision, from coordination and timeline creation to day-of execution. No task was too big or too small, and she handled every challenge with grace and resourcefulness. She kept us updated and was always available to answer our questions and ease our concerns.
What stood out most was her commitment. She wasn’t just checking boxes; she truly cared. It showed in how she advocated for us with vendors, supported us through stressful moments, and took on the pressure so we could enjoy the time leading up to the big day. She made sure we felt supported not just as clients, but as people.
On our wedding day, we were able to be fully present; laughing, dancing, and soaking it all in, because Kae and her assistant were behind the scenes making sure everything ran smoothly. The joy we felt came not just from being surrounded by loved ones, but from knowing that so much thought and care had gone into making it happen. She ensured everything made sense for both our families. We received so many compliments about how beautiful, organized, and meaningful the day was. That’s because of Kae.
If you’re looking for an event planner who listens deeply, works diligently, and truly wants your day to be special, look no further. Thanks to Kae, our wedding was everything we dreamed of and more. It was a beautiful and joyous celebration that we will cherish forever. We’re incredibly grateful we had her by our side and cannot recommend Events by Kae highly enough. (Sarah Ramazani)
Kind Words From the Bride
As a wedding planner, there’s nothing better than hearing from my couples after the celebration. Reading Sarah’s Google Review was such an honor; it’s moments like these that remind me why I love what I do.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. How can a Nigerian Wedding Planner help with a destination wedding?
A wedding planner will handle the logistics, coordinate with local vendors, and manage on-site execution so you can focus on enjoying your day. For destination weddings, having a planner ensures that details are handled even when you’re not physically at the venue during the planning process.
2. Do you work outside of New Jersey?
Yes! I travel across the United States for my clients, whether you’re planning in Florida, Seattle, Texas, or beyond. My role is to make sure your celebration, whether traditional, modern, or a blend of both, reflects your vision and runs smoothly.
3. How do you combine a Western wedding with a Nigerian traditional ceremony?
We work with couples to create a timeline that accommodates both events, ensuring each part gets the attention it deserves. This often means starting with a Western ceremony and reception, followed by an outfit change and cultural elements for the traditional celebration.
